Division of Continuing Studies

A proctored test is an exam commonly associated with online coursework in which a person will monitor you while you take the exam.  If you live within driving distance to IPFW, you likely will take your proctored tests at the Fort Wayne campus or at IPFW Testing Services.  Specific directions on how to sign up for and use Proctored Testing Services on the IPFW campus are available below.  If you live out of the area or out of state, check with a local university or public library to see if exams could be proctored at that location. To establish proctored testing at the desired university or public library, students must provide the name of the institution, contact person and phone number to Tanner Clarke at online@ipfw.edu or 260-481-6111.

Signing Up for and Using Proctored Testing Services on the IPFW Campus

(Applies to all local students enrolled in IPFW online classes)

Step 1

Call Testing Services at 260-481-6600 when you are ready to schedule your test; you must do so in advance. No walk-ins are permitted. The instructor will list exam dates on his or her syllabus and will approve any extensions or exceptions to these dates. Have an extension, or exception? The instructor will need to notify Testing Services of this special circumstance; however, you must still call and schedule your testing appointment.

Testing appointments are on a first-come, first-served basis—so to receive the day and time that works best for your schedule, please call well in advance of the beginning date for each exam. Child care arrangements must be made prior to the day and time of your exam, as children are not allowed in the testing rooms or in the testing lab. Examinations are given during the following days and times in Kettler Hall, Room 232:

  • Mondays–Thursdays, 8:30 a.m, 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 4 p.m. and 5:45 p.m.
  • Fridays, 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
  • Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.

Please arrive 15 minutes early for your testing appointment. Students arriving late will be asked to reschedule their appointment.

In the event of adverse weather conditions, please listen to area radio and television stations to make sure that the IPFW Campus is open.

Step 2

Bring several pencils, pens, and any other materials (i.e., calculator, ruler, notes, textbooks) that your instructor has said you may use during the examination. You are responsible for bringing the necessary materials that you will need for your examination. Testing Services will proctor the exam according to your instructor's directions only.

Testing Services is located in Kettler Hall, Room 232.  Questions and scheduling can be addressed by calling 260-481-6600.
