Craig A. Humphrey, Associate Professor of Costume Design/Head of Design Technology, is a Pittsburgh area native who holds an MFA in Costume Design from the University of Massachusetts and a BFA in Acting from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He came to IPFW in 1991 from the University of Mississippi, where he served for three years as Assistant Professor of Costume Design. During his many years at IPFW he has taught a wide range of courses in a variety of areas. He regularly teaches courses in: Costume Design, Period Styles for the Theatre, American Musical Theatre, Musical Theatre Performance, Make-up, Fundamentals of Performance and Textual Analysis. In the department’s production program Humphrey serves as both Costume Designer and Director, typically designing 3-5 productions and directing one production each season. Professionally, his work has been seen throughout the Fort Wayne theatre community and at theatres in Chicago, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, Wisconsin and Off-Broadway, where he served as Assistant Costume Designer to internationally renowned designer, Laura Crow, for the Circle Repertory Theatre production of Lanford Wilson’s Burn This.
