10/6 IPFW Bands in Concert

This evening will feature the Fort Wayne Philharmonic’s Adam Johnson, trombone in Joseph Turrin’s Illuminations with the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Ginastera’s Danza Final “Malambo” from Estancia!

11/20 Percussion Day!
This event is open to middle and high school students, and will consist of a day’s worth of masterclasses and performances featuring IPFW faculty, members of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, and special guest Johnathan Ovalle, Professor of Percussion at the University of Michigan. 12/1 IPFW Bands in Concert
Frank Ticheli’s Angel’s in the Architecture highlight’s this performance as well as Purcell’s Funeral Music for Queen Mary and Igor Stravinsky’s Circus Polka! Sharing the stage with the bands will be the Valparaiso High School Wind Symphony!

12/8- 12/10 10th Annual IPFW Honor Jazz Weekend
Jump-start your jazz season! Get your brightest talent into the biggest and best high school jazz orchestra in the state.

The Three Rivers Honor Bands weekend brings together great instrumentalists from middle school through high school to participate in musical festivities, which includes coaching by IPFW faculty, members of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, as well as leading conductors from across the nation! 2/12 Flute and Clarinet Day!
IPFW Flute and Clarinet Day! This event is open to all flutists and clarinetists, regardless of age and will feature workshops and performances led by faculty artists, Vivianne Belanger and Cynthia Greider.  Special guests are Johnathan Gunn, Principal Clarinet of the Cincinnati Symphony and Jennifer Gunn, Piccolo of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra! 3/2 Brass Day with Gail Williams!
IPFW Brass Day with Gail Williams! All brass students, please join us for what will be a remarkable day filled with clinics and workshops with members of the IPFW brass faculty, members of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, and one of the greatest brass pedagogues today, Northwestern University’s Professor of Horn and former hornist of the Chicago Symphony, Gail Williams.  The evening concludes with a brass performance in Auer Hall! 3/2 IPFW Bands in Concert
The IPFW Bands are excited to welcome to the stage, Professor Gail Williams from Northwestern University and formerly the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in performance with the Symphonic Wind Ensemble.  Also featured on this concert will be a joint brass performance as well as composer Steven Bryant’s fanfare, In This Broad Earth and Percy Grainger’s magnum opus, Lincolnshire Posy!

3/3- 3/5 North American Saxophone Alliance
For the first time, the North American Saxophone Alliance regional conference will be held on the campus of IPFW! This weekend brings together many of the greatest saxophonists in the nation for clinics and performances and is the largest saxophone organization in the western hemisphere dedicated to the establishment of the saxophone as a medium of serious musical expression. 4/12- 4/13 IPFW WindFest!
This event offers high school and middle school bands the opportunity to experience a non-competitive performance and clinic by renown instrumental pedagogues from around the United States.  Each ensemble will be provided digital comments and a thirty-minute clinic on their concert work immediately following the stage performance.  This event will be valuable as a pre-festival experience or as a substitute for the ISSMA festival. The IPFW Bands conclude the 2016/17 season in a joint collaboration with the IPFW Choirs and Fort Wayne Children’s Choir on Eric Whitacre’s Equus as well as with Ingolf Dahl’s magnificent Sinfonietta.
