College of Arts and Sciences

We are a region on the move. From our homes to our workplaces, from our three iconic rivers to our sports arenas and parks, people and ideas are moving our region forward.

Always a city brimming with energy and vitality, Fort Wayne, like northeast Indiana, is on the rise. Residents, leaders, educators, and politicians across our communities are banding together to transform the region, provide new opportunities for residents, attract more visitors, generate new business, and, most importantly, improve the quality of life in our corner of Indiana.

The College of Arts and Sciences at PurdueFW is dedicated to supporting northeast Indiana through its quality academic programming, its commitment to both pure and applied research, and its long tradition of transformative community engagement. With the university’s official designation as a metropolitan university and the realignment of the College as a core element of Purdue Fort Wayne, we seek to expand our metropolitan mission by expanding our work with the greater Fort Wayne community. START projects will be designed to improve the quality of life for the residents of Fort Wayne and will serve as engines for economic, intellectual, and cultural growth across our region.

The START program will fund opportunities that support research, development, and community-building projects in which our faculty and students work directly with community members, civic leaders, and regional institutions to accelerate Fort Wayne’s growth and enterprise. START funds will provide seed monies to fuel collaborative and sustainable projects involving the College of Arts and Sciences and the Fort Wayne community. Every project will be designed to help improve the quality of life for our communities, enhance the learning opportunities and experiences for students, and contribute positively to the visibility and prominence of one of American’s great and growing cities.
