Department of Biology - Clubs

A campus or department is not complete unless it serves its students inside and outside the classroom. There are two student organizations that many Purdue FW Biology students choose to participate in – the Biology Club and our chapter of Tri-Beta.

The Biology Club is an active and fun way for students at Purdue FW to get to know one another. The club is run by elected officers and is supported by the faculty in the department. Meetings are held at least once a month during the fall and spring semesters with invited speakers keeping students in touch with how the principles that they are learning are being applied outside of campus. The Biology club is best known for planning and executing Fort Wayne’s annual Earth Day celebration each April.

Beta Beta Beta (Tri-Beta) is an academic society for students, dedicated to improving the understanding and appreciation of biological study and extending boundaries of human knowledge through scientific research. Members are encouraged to participate in research presentations and publishing of original work in the societies own journal.

The Pre-Dental Club at Purdue FW is a recognized pre-professional organization devoted to: providing students with educational opportunities to further enrich their exposure to the dental field; seeking out and coordinating local service opportunities to improve overall dental care in our community; preparing members for the dental school application and admissions process; and bringing together students, professors , dentists, and other individuals all sharing a passion for dentistry.

The AMSA Pre-Med Club at Purdue FW is an active organization for students who are interested in pursuing medical school. The organization helps pre-med students with volunteering opportunities and allows members to interact with and gain insight from clinical and professional health care workers. Meetings are held once a month with guest speakers who discuss information about the MCAT, the medical school application process, as well as a general overview of the various aspects that comprise the medical profession.
