Professional Background

Brian Dobias is a clinical assistant professor in the Counselor Education Program.  He earned his B.A. and B.M degrees in Psychology and Music from MacMurray College and his MSEd from IPFW. A licensed school counselor, Mr. Dobias has over 10 years of experience counseling in a high school setting.  His research areas of interest include empowering students to improve school climate and peer group facilitation curriculum.  In recent years, he has published on peer mentoring, school climate & connectedness, and prevention science applied to school settings.  Recently, Mr. Dobias served as a co-facilitator for the Indiana Department of Education task group on Bully Prevention and Intervention.  He is a member of the American School Counselor Association, the American Counseling Association, the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision and the Association for Specialists in Group Work.
