Welcome to the Student Success Center (SSC).  We are the advising center for undergraduate programs in the College of Professional Studies.

Having a good relationship with your advisor can greatly enhance your educational experience.  You and your advisor each carry responsibilities; however, the ultimate responsibility for completing your degree requirements rests with you.  You can be a successful student if you take advantage of advising offered by this office in order to avoid errors and/or delays in your academic progress.   

MISSION:  
The College of Professional Studies Student Success Center fosters student 
development and academic success along with collaborative efforts with
academic units by providing support services for future public servants to
assist them in achieving their educational and professional goals.

VISION: 
The Student Success Center will become the premier advising center at 
Purdue Fort Wayne by providing high quality academic support services and
programs designed to positively impact student recruitment, persistence,
completion of goals, timely graduation, and meaningful employment.

Academic Advisor for Public Policy and Student Success Center Director

Leslie will advise you if you are a Criminal Justice, Law and Public Policy, Healthcare Management, or Non-profit Management and Leadership major.  She will work with you throughout your academic career from your first semester through graduation.  She will also help you create and maintain a four year plan of study to insure you stay on track to graduate in a timely manner.

Academic Advisor and Director of Licensing for the School of Education

Jim will advise you if you are a secondary education or fine arts education major.   He also advises all education students after you have been admitted to professional education, which is typically your last two years. He will work with you to complete your degree and assist you with obtaining your license after you graduate so you can start your professional career as an educator.

Sharon Wight, M.A.
Sr. Academic Advisor for the School of Education

Sharon will advise you if you are an elementary or early childhood education major.  She will start with you as your advisor until you fulfill the requirements for admission to professional education, which is typically the first two years.  She will assist you in creating a four year plan of study to fulfill the requirements for completing your degree.

Lindsay McKenna, M.S.Lindsay McKenna
Academic Advisor for Human Services and Hospitality & Tourism Mgmt.

Lindsay will advise you if you are a student in the departments of Human Services or Hospitality & Tourism Management. If you are a Human Services student, she will advise you once you are accepted into the program and have begun your clinicals (2nd year) until you begin your internship (4th year). Then, you will have a faculty advisor to get you ready for graduation! If you are an HTM student, she will advise you throughout your college career and assist you in fulfilling the requirements of the program.

How to make an advising appointment using AdvisorTrac 

  • Click on the link above.  Use your Purdue Fort Wayne username and password to log in to AdvisorTrac.
  • Click on Search For Availabilities on the left-hand side of the page.

Follow these instructions:

  • On the left hand side of the page (not the top of the page), in the Student box, type in your last name and it will automatically search for your name.  Once your name comes up on a list, click on your 900 number and it will enter the number in the box and your name beside the box.
  • In the drop down menu under Please Select A Center select "Education”
  • In the drop down menu under Select A Consultant select your Advisor 
  • Select the From and To dates to search within those dates in which you want to make your appointment.
  • Use the slide rule and select the time frame that you are available and would like to search.
  • Click the Search button at the bottom of the page You should now see the available time slots for your advisor. Click on the time slot that works best for you.  NOTE:  Times in light blue are walk-in availabilities only.  That means your advisor is available  for you to just walk into the office in NF 243 during those times.  Walk-in times are first come -  first served.  Times in green are available for you to select to make your own one-on-one appointment with your advisor.               
  • An Appointments Entry box will pop up asking for more information.
  • In the drop down menu beside Reason, choose a reason for the appointment.
  • In the Notes box, type in a more specific reason if you choose General Advising as your reason for the appt.
  • Click the Save button at the bottom of the page.
  • Do not forget to log out when you have completed your request.
  • A confirmation email will be sent to you (the student) and your advisor immediately upon saving the appointment.
  • A reminder email will also be sent to you (the student) and your advisor 24 hours before the scheduled appointment time.
  • When you arrive for your appointment, check in with Melinda Woods, Secretary.  She is located in NF 243A.

To cancel an advising appointment you made in AdvisorTrac:

  • Click on the "X" after the appointment information in the Upcoming Appointments section on your Main Menu.
  • In the Appointments Cancellation box, enter a cancellation reason, and click the Confirm Cancellation
