Alanna Olah

Alanna Olah serves as Chair for the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management as well as Associate Clinical Professor. She joined Purdue University Fort Wayne in 2020 from St. Petersburg College in Florida where she served as Academic Chair for the College  of Business, where she was responsible for Hospitality & Tourism, Sports Management, and Business Administration.

Professor Olah has over 20 years industry experience in both Hotels and Restaurants. She has worked in many different positions including Server, General Manager and Regional Beverage Director. She loved working in lodging for Marriott Hotels and Resorts, where she served as Food Safety and Sanitation Supervisor. She also worked as a Food Safety and Brand Standard Auditor for Steritech Group. She is a Food Protection Manager and Certified Instructor and Registered Proctor with ServSafe. She also is a Level 1 Sommelier through Court of Master Sommeliers. Though she is passionate about almost every area of operations, her specializations are in Food Safety and Bar and Beverage Management.

Professor Olah began teaching college in 2011 with Valencia College in Orlando. She quickly realized this was her passion and enrolled in a graduate program. She received her Master’s degree in Hospitality & Tourism Management from Rosen College of Hospitality Management in Orlando Florida in 2014.

Her awards since being in education include “Professor of the year” from the hospitality student organization at Valencia College, and a nomination for Outstanding Community Educator Award from St. Petersburg College for her work training homeless and displaced veterans for jobs in the hospitality industry.

She is married, and has two wonderful rescue dogs. She loves to be outside and go to parks.
