Distinguished Alumni Award

John Peirce, is the recipient of the school’s 2011 Distinguished Alumni Award. Peirce received the award at the annual Founder’s Day luncheon. The award is presented each year to an alumnus of the Doermer School of Business who has distinguished him or herself by the significance of their work, and by contributions to IPFW and to the community.John Peirce

John earned an MBA from IPFW in 1980 and had a distinguished business career, most recently as the VP and part owner of Indiana Stamp, one of the largest and most respected marking device companies in the world that exports products to over 30 countries.

However, what is most impressive about John is his commitment and contributions to our community as an extremely active volunteer.  He is involved in Rotary Club and was instrumental in their adoption of Washington Elementary School.  He initiated the “Parent University” program at his business.  He’s a lunch buddy, a big brother through Big Brothers Big Sisters, and on the Board of Directors of Carriage House.  John was recognized with a National Heroes in Our Midst Award for his service to Big Brothers Big Sisters and received the Indiana Parent Teachers Association Lifetime Service Award.

John’s passion is education.  He joined the Board of School Trustees at Fort Wayne Community Schools in 2008.  He is committed to making sure all students are given the opportunity to discover and develop their talents and receive the kind of education that will allow them to compete successfully in a world economy.

And to top it all off, John is one of only 19 executives from around the world selected as a 2011 Fellow in the Advanced Leadership Initiative at Harvard University- a program designed to prepare experienced leaders to take on new challenges in the social sector where they potentially can make an even greater societal impact than they did in their careers.
