Distinguished Alumni Award

Scott Naltner, executive vice president of the Fort Wayne–Allen County Economic Development Alliance, is the recipient of the school’s 2010 Distinguished Alumni Award. Naltner received the award at the annual Founder’s Day luncheon. The award is presented each year to an alumnus of the Doermer School ofScott Nalter Business who has distinguished him or herself by the significance of their work, and by contributions to IPFW and to the community.

Naltner earned a bachelor’s degree in business with a concentration in economics from IPFW in 1986. His professional career began at the Region III-A Economic Development District and Regional Planning Commission; he then joined the Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce; and joined the Alliance at its inception in 2000. The goal of the Alliance is to attract outside companies looking to relocate or expand their operations in another geographical area, and to help businesses grow.

In a recent IPFW Alumni Association publication, Naltner said he’s glad he chose to attend IPFW. “In retrospect, it was a very sound decision. I think my education at IPFW was pretty close to being perfect. At the time, there were five economists teaching at IPFW. The education I received from those excellent instructors helped make the transition to my professional career seamless. Those were some good days at IPFW. I wouldn’t change that for anything.”
