Assurance of Learning

The Doermer School of Business (DSB) is committed to achieving the learning goals sought for its two degree programs, the Bachelor of Science in Business (BSB) and the Master of Business Administration (MBA).  The School has a three-step program for assessing learning.

Step 1:  Establish the competency of our students in areas related to desired learning goals.

In academic years 2005-06 and 2006-07, the School examined through field tests and students competitions performance that relates to acquisition of learning and skills sought in the baccalaureate and MBA programs.  ETS Field Exams were administered to undergraduate and MBA students in Spring 2006 and Fall 2006.  We also involved our students in competitions in which skills in teamwork and communication as well as ability to integrate, apply, and extend business learning were tested.  In addition, each undergraduate concentration (major) has an assessment tool and process for evaluating achievement of learning goals specific to the major.

Step 2: Integrate the results of the field testing, competitions, departmental instruments, and other methods.

Step 3: Use the results to celebrate and improve desired learning outcomes.
