Welcome to a New Semester and a New Decade
January 14, 2020
Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,
Welcome to a new semester and a new decade here at Purdue University Fort Wayne. To all of our new and returning students, faculty, and staff, I hope 2020 is off to a wonderful and productive start.
We have much to be excited about here at Purdue Fort Wayne. Our enrollment remains strong this semester, fall-to-spring student retention is up, and we are nearing completion of both the university’s strategic plan and the campus master plan. Indeed, in the coming months, we will begin implementing the top priorities identified through the campus-wide strategic planning and activation process.
As the spring semester unfolds, I hope each of you will continue to be engaged in the life of our university community. There is so much to see and do—and so much to be actively involved in. Whether it’s an Omnibus Speaker Series presentation, a Student Affairs event, a Mastodons athletics competition, a campus lecture, or a music or theatre performance, we would love to see each of you out and about on campus this spring.
As we continue to establish our unique identity and presence as Purdue Fort Wayne, let’s each make a personal commitment to create a dynamic, rewarding, welcoming, and inclusive campus experience for everyone. With more than 10,000 students and 1,500 faculty and staff, Purdue Fort Wayne is a driving force in the community and the region. Let’s leverage our academic strength, our ambition, our know-how, and our passion to elevate both our university and our community.
Let us also take pride and inspiration in being part of the prestigious Purdue University system. If you haven’t done so already, I encourage you to read the annual open letter that President Mitch Daniels issued last week.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment to Purdue Fort Wayne. I wish each of you continued success and fulfillment. Let’s make this a year worth remembering and a decade for the record books.
