Welcome to the Center for Social Research

The Center for Social Research (CSR) students, faculty, and other university personnel with the planning, implementation, and analysis of research projects and conducts research on behalf of government agencies, private business and industry, social service institutions, and other organizations in the greater Fort Wayne community.  

The CSR also draws on faculty expertise in an interdisciplinary fashion when conducting research projects and utilizes Purdue University Fort Wayne’s faculty resources to provide a superior level of service to Purdue University Fort Wayne and the surrounding community.

  • Mission

    • To provide excellent opportunities for students to receive real-world experience in social research.
    • To produce high quality research reports and analyses for clients.
    • To conduct and support research and events to improve the well-being of community members and influence policy and programs.
    • To utilize Purdue University Fort Wayne’s organizational diversity to offer an experiential learning environment that fosters excellence in the services it offers, as well as the educational opportunities it delivers.
    • To equip students with the knowledge and skills that employers find valuable in today’s data-driven world.
    • To develop in student staff members leadership, interpersonal communication, public speaking, and qualitative and quantitative reasoning skills.
    • To offer students opportunities to network and develop professional contacts within their field of study.
    • To train students, staff, faculty, and campus members in applying social science research and utilizing statistical analysis software and qualitative research techniques.
    • To train community members, such as high school students, in applied social research and statistical analysis, while emphasizing the importance of social sciences.
    • To translate research and research methods to broad communities, such as students, researchers, practitioners, policy makers, and legal professionals.
    • To create events that education on and emphasize the role of social science and current social issues.
    • To facilitate engagement with local communities through presentations, conferences, and training sessions.
    • To organize and host conferences that create a collaborative learning environment, educate on applied research, and facilitate student–faculty–community interaction.


It is the goal of the CSR is to serve as the primary resource for the social, demographic and applied research needs of the Purdue University Fort Wayne campus community and the Fort Wayne community.
