Indiana–Purdue Student Government Association

Lewis Ostermeyer (2018-2019)

Lewis Ostermeyer is currently a senior at Purdue University Fort Wayne majoring in both Physics and Political Science. He has been actively involved on campus in many ways, including serving as a student senator for the past three years, founding the Purdue Fort Wayne chapter of the College Republicans, and being a member of the Society of Physics Students. In the spring 2017 semester Lewis interned at the Indiana House of Representatives where he worked directly for three legislators and was a liaison between the legislators and their constituents.

Lewis hopes to be a voice for all students to the university administration. Some of his goals include ensuring that Purdue Fort Wayne continues the legacy of IPFW, increasing student involvement on campus, and encouraging stronger relations and transparency between the branches of the Student Government Association.

The Student Body President serves at the primary representative and advocate for students to the university leadership, represents SGA at official university events and at Board of Trustees meeting, holds veto power over legislation passed by the Student Senate, and presides over All-SGA meetings. The President also makes student appointments to university committees, including the Student Travel Committee and the Campus Appeals Board.
