During Spring Break in 2009, we took a team of students (and some non-student adults) to Nice, France--our first trip to this country.  You can see the team pictured on the beach at Nice, a coastal city in France, in the first picture.  Very beautiful!  Our hosts for this week in March were Scott and Michelle Harris, pictured in the second image, with their children.  The Harris' were representatives of IFES in France--the international arm of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship.  We spent the week in Nice doing campus ministry with Scott and Michelle.  It was a great learning experience to compare how campus ministry is done on two different continents.  Ironically, Scott and Michelle are now serving in Fort Wayne, Indiana with us on the campus of IPFW as staff for Global Christian Fellowship--the local ministry to international students.  We are grateful that our friendship and partnership with Scott and Michelle continues now locally.  We traveled by bus almost everywhere we went in Nice.  In the third picture above, you can see some of our team members enjoying conversation and a ride together on the way to a ministry opportunity.  The fourth and fifth pictures indicate the kind of ministry we shared in France.  In the fourth image, two Christian staff volunteers with the Harris' (the ladies) are sharing their faith with a non-believing male French university student at a movie night on Tuesday.  We watched the film "Amazing Grace" together and then talked in small groups about the faith implications of this film.  In the fifth image, Campus Minister Ben Gates is giving a lecture on the history of the American presidency in a French university classroom.  The students were very attentive and interested in what he shared, especially about new president Barack Obama.  We ended the week with a day in Paris; we often give the students a "fun day" after a long week of service.  In the sixth picture above, you can see team member Allen Daler enjoying a photo op next to the Arc de Triomphe on the Champs Elysees at night in Paris.  Earlier in the day, we had visited the Eiffel Tower--two of our team members obviously approved of this French national symbol in the seventh image above.
