There is a connection between being active and good emotional health.

A recent study looked at the relationship between the amount of weekly exercise and the participant’s sense of well-being. Protection from depression and improved emotional health increased for every increase in the amount of time spent exercising. In other words, the higher the fitness or exercise level, the better the mental and emotional health.

The bottom line is clear. Regular physical activity will not only improve our physical health but will have a positive effect on our brains. Try these activities to feel happier and enjoy better emotional health every day.

  • Walk: A morning walk can get you ready for your day, help you sleep better at night, lower your stress level and reduced health risks.
  • Ride A Bike: Ride with your partner, a friend, and your kids. Increase your fitness level while enjoying the benefits of a closer relationship.
  • Dance: Shake off the doldrums with some party music. With a partner or by yourself, dancing lightens your heart (and lightens your weight).
  • Take An Exercise Class: Aerobics, circuit training, step, kick-boxing, palates or yoga. Sign up with a partner to keep your commitment firm.
